Starting a Business
SBA defines a small business concern as one that is independently owned and operated, is organized for profit, and is not dominant in its field. A start up business is defined as a new business. It is not necessarily a new type of business, rather just a business that is new to the general public. The SBDC can help you start a business by providing free, confidential, one-to-one counseling in all areas of business management, including pre-venture feasibility, business plan development, marketing, record keeping, financial and human resource management, operations management, and access to capital (loans & investors). The SBDC also offers a range of introductory business workshops that will help to start your business.
